Invest Africa CEO Brings 20 Years of Deal Experience to ACG Board

A veteran dealmaker joins ACG Africa to help finance district projects

Chantelé Carrington has spent more than twenty years moving capital across borders. That experience is now being put to a new purpose. The Chief Executive Officer of Invest Africa has joined the Advisory Board of African Collaborations Group (ACG Africa), an organisation working to connect bankable projects on the continent with the institutional investors capable of financing them.

For the people and communities that stand to benefit from large-scale development projects across Africa, the gap between a well-structured proposal and the money needed to build it is often the decisive factor. ACG Africa’s work sits squarely in that space. The group originates and structures large-scale sports and entertainment district projects, aligning governments, development finance institutions, investors, sports bodies and infrastructure partners behind financially sustainable mixed-use district ecosystems. Its Victory District™ initiative is the flagship of that effort, and the appointment of Carrington is intended to strengthen the organisation’s access to institutional investors and support the mobilisation of capital for projects under the programme.

Carrington took the helm at Invest Africa in January 2024. Her path to that role ran through a long career in financial services, investment advisory and cross-border capital mobilisation spanning Africa, the United States, the Middle East, Asia and Europe. Before joining Invest Africa she held several senior positions at PwC, among them Strategic Head of International Markets for the UK, a role in which she oversaw investment activities across multiple global markets including Africa, the United States, China, Japan, India and Europe.

Her time at PwC also included five years as Chief Operating Officer of PwC UK’s Africa Group for the UK-Africa Alliance. Earlier responsibilities covered a wide range of work: leading financial services activities across Africa, and overseeing engagements in South Africa, infrastructure, government and the public sector, transactions and advisory, audit and assurance, taxation and regulation. That breadth of exposure, ACG Africa notes, aligns closely with its own projects involving cross-border capital flows, multi-jurisdictional structuring and partnerships between international investors and African governments.

Beyond her corporate roles, Carrington brings policy-level connections. She is a member of the UK Government’s Investors Group for Africa and of the External Advisory Board of the UK-Africa Investment Summit. She previously chaired the Advisory Group of the Technical Assistance Facility for the UK-Africa Investment Summit 2020.

Nicolas Pompigne-Mognard, Founder and Executive Chairman of ACG, framed the appointment in terms of what it unlocks for the organisation’s ambitions. “Chantelé brings to our Advisory Board what every infrastructure origination platform ultimately needs: access to the investor community,” he said. “As CEO of Invest Africa, she leads a platform of over four hundred member organisations that include precisely the institutions, private equity firms, FDIs and multinationals capable of financing and participating in Victory District™ projects. As a member of the UK Government’s Investor Group for Africa, she connects at the political level where investment decisions are shaped. His appointment strengthens ACG’s ability to connect bankable projects to bankable capital.”

That phrase, bankable projects meeting bankable capital, captures the logic behind the move. For the governments, sports bodies and infrastructure partners involved in these district developments, the practical question is whether financing can be secured on terms that make the projects viable. Carrington’s network, built through her leadership of Invest Africa and her advisory roles, is presented by ACG as a direct answer to that question.

Meanwhile, the Advisory Council itself serves as the strategic guide for ACG’s work, offering direction as the organisation brings together the many parties needed to deliver district projects that can sustain themselves financially over time. Details of the appointment and the organisation’s wider activities were reported by Africa Business Communities at https://africabusinesscommunities.com/news/acg-appoints-invest-africa-ceo-to-board/.

For now, the appointment signals a deliberate step: an organisation building sports and entertainment districts across the continent has added a leader whose career has been spent bridging African opportunities and international capital, in the hope that the projects it champions will move more quickly from plans on paper to places where people live, work and gather.
